What do you do?
A lot. I process sales contracts. I’m the interface between Sales and Finance. I keep contract templates current. I manage client access to the online insights services. I proof read and edit most of our syndicated deliverables. I coordinate speaking engagements for some of the senior staff. As my phone number is on our promotional materials, I answer the phone and forward calls or assign leads as appropriate. Those are the main ones, but there’s a ton of other stuff, too. I’ve been here so long I know where most things are in the building or on our network.
How did you get here?
More by accident than by design. I moved to North Carolina 17 years ago and needed work. Someone I met said the firm she worked for would hire me as a phone research interviewer “in a heartbeat.” She was right. I was quickly promoted off the phones and have worked as an Analyst, Document Production Division Manager, Client Service Manager, Project Manager and now I run Sales Ops.
Why do you do it?
Someone’s got to! The nature of the work suits my attention to detail. And there are some pretty neat people to work with.
What have you learned during your career?
That there is always a good solution to a problem. Always. It may take some searching and some time to come to light, but it is there.
What do you do away from work?
I read, I cook, I take photographs, I watch films, I play and watch football (soccer), I hang out with my wife and kids.

…that the more you put into something, the more you’ll get out of it. And as you give, so shall you receive (if you’re nice to people, they’ll be nice back).
I wish...
…I had the time and money to travel more; to Brazil and Costa Rica and Cape Town and Jamaica and Kiribati and Botswana and Madagascar and back to Venice and Bali and Amsterdam and Cuzco and Auckland and San Francisco and Bogotà…among many other places.
